AMD spreads the Phenom Charisma

A processor is the key component of a desktop PC or a notebook because a
processor carries out the actual processing. A desktop or a notebook's quality
is always measured in terms of its processor. There are numerous high speed
processors in the market. Generally processors are offered by Intel and
AMD .
A new origin however in the processor designing market is
Nvidia. Recently, Phenom 4 series processors are launched in the market
by AMD
. Lets detail this feature an AMD oriemtations. They are:
-

· Phenom X4 9950 Black
Edition

· Phenom X4 9350e

· Phenom X4
9150e

Phenom X4 9950 Black Edition:

Phenom X4 9950 is an efficient processor of Phenom series, which uses a
65-nanometer process. The 65-nm Phenom X4 9950 provides a 4 percent
speed increase as compared to its previous version of processors. It uses a
2.6GHz processor with frequency up to 1.6GHz. the processor supports for
unregistered DIMMs memory.
An exclusive feature of the processor
is that the processor can show bandwidth up to 33.1
GB/s
.
we can see the processor is running at a core voltage of
1.296 Volts. The processor offers Dual Dynamic Power Management
technology. X4- 9950 chip is 100MHz faster than the previous 9850
model.
So we can say that AMD has designed a powerful processor
for it's users. A user can own this processor just by paying about
$235

Phenom X4 9350e:

This is another new processor from AMD. This processor has its own features
which are different from Phenom X4 9350e. This processor 2.0 GHz
processor that is compatible with frequency 1.6GHz. X4 9350 supports three
different cache sizes L1,L2 and L3 which enhance the performance of the
processor.
Main feature of the processor is its low power
consumption. The reason for its lesser power consumption as compared to other
processors is its thermal design power. Users can get this processor
by paying $195.

Phenom X4 9150e:

There is one more processor in Phenom X4 series. This processor
1.8 GHz processor that is compatible with frequency 1.6GHz which supports
unregistered DIMMs memory synchronization.
The processor uses
Silicon on Insulator (SOI) technology. Integrated 128-bit wide
memory controller of the processor is capable of being configured
for dual 64-bit channels for simultaneous read/writes.
The price
of the processor is very nominal as compare to its features. A user
can get his processor in $175.

In crux, we can say that AMD
processors are always be compared with its Opponent Intel core processor and if
AMD wants to make its place in the processor market, it has to design very
efficient processors like Phenom X4 series. AMD has fixed a very low price range
for it's X4series processors. This would definitely act as a plus point towards
AMD.

In our next feature we shall draw highlights on Intel orientations and
consequently comparison charts on efficiency. Till then stay tuned

Nokia to use Microsoft Zune software for iPhone battle

It seems that Microsoft has to team up with Nokia to try and take the fight to Apple with their iPhone. As we know Nokia is losing the battle when it comes to sales of handsets against the iPhone, the reason behind this is how good the software is on the all in one handset.

One of the greatest features of the iPhone is how you are able to use iTunes to access your music on the phone like an iPod. It is that feature where Nokia does not have an answer for.

Well there might be some hope for the phone maker, as they are getting together with Microsoft to integrate the Zune software on to Nokia phones. This news has come as a bit of a shock, considering Nokia support every operating system except Windows.

Microsoft knows that they are taking a beating from Apple, which is why they have to support more than one platform now.

Many had expected Microsoft to launch their own phone to rival Apple’s iPhone, but it does make sense to partner Nokia who is the largest cell phone provider in the world.

So could Nokia and Zune be enough to kick the iPhone of its throne?

Nokia's Price Cut Poses Threat to LG

Price cuts by Nokia, which controls 40 percent of the global handset market, are
putting bigger pressure on its smaller rivals, including LG Electronics, which
has focused on pricey camera and music phones.

According to industry
sources, the Finland-based mobile phone manufacturer unexpectedly decided to
lower prices by up to 10 percent for some music and multimedia phones in
July.

Global mobile phone makers are now facing an increasingly fierce
battle for a greater market share as the demand for such premium phones shows
signs of a slowdown in the world’s two biggest consumer electronics market _ the
U.S. and Europe. The U.S. and European economies are suffering from macro
economic troubles because of the deepening global credit crunch ignited by the
U.S. subprime housing loan woes.

"The latest decision by the world’s top
handset manufacturer will pressure us on whether to join the move or not. We are
watching the market situation with interest," an LG spokesman said
Wednesday.

"If we hesitantly implement the price cut plan with Nokia,
then the bold move might hurt our phones’ premium image or drag down the share
in the key North American and European markets," the official said, adding LG
still needs to strengthen its brand image for better competition with Nokia and
Samsung Electronics on the global market.

LG Electronics CEO Nam Yong
earlier clarified that the company may have to cut its handset prices if Nokia
moves to do so first. Citing market principles, Nam said price competition was
inevitable unless LG created a unique value to differentiate its phones from
those of Nokia.

Analysts say the Finland maker has always been tactical
with its pricing and the recent price cut decision comes amid Nokia’s aggressive
preparation for its ``SuperNova’’ phone at reasonable prices with integrated
music players.

"What seems interesting is that Nokia reduced prices on
multimedia phones. The multimedia segment is where LG has been injecting massive
capital for marketing to raise its share in key markets, increasing worries over
lower profits on our mobile division," a high-ranking LG official
said.

Sales of the world’s No. 4 handset maker’s 11 models of touch-based
multimedia phones reached the 7 million mark at the end of June for the first
time driven by good performances by its Viewty, Venus, Voyager and Prada
multimedia phones. But LG has already faced a tough battle in large part due to
the successful introduction of Apple’s 3G iPhone.

"Although Nokia’s
decision will directly impact Sony-Ericsson due to overlapping phone portfolios,
the aggressive pricing by Apple, as well as Nokia will lead to further margin
pressures in the longer term on LG," the official said.

Citing such
factors, Goodmorning Shinhan analyst Steve Lee forecast LG to see operating
profits at its handset division to fall by around 5 percent this year because of
the price cuts.

Gartner, a market research firm, also expects phone sales
in the third quarter to be more than the second quarter
results.

"Cost-control and putting pressure on supplier pricing are the
business norm of operators. Hence, mobile device vendors are experiencing
increased pressure on device pricing," the firm said.

In the second
quarter, LG sold a 27.7 million phones compared with 24.4 million in the first.
The quarterly operating profit margin for its mobile phones was 14.4 percent on
a global basis, compared with 13.9 percent in the first quarter.

UPDATE: Apple Management Change After Rocky Start For IPhone Service

By Ben Charny

Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES

SAN FRANCISCO -(Dow Jones)- Apple Inc. (AAPL) Senior Vice President Eddy Cue is now in charge of the computer maker's newly-overhauled "MobileMe" iPhone service, which had a rocky debut.

Chief Executive Steve Jobs said in a recent memo to employees that the four- week-old feature was launched too early and was "not up to Apple's standards."

Apple has already apologized to those who signed on and gave customers a free month of service. Now it appears the problems have led to a shakeup among those in charge.

An Apple spokesman had no comment, and it wasn't clear who Cue is replacing. Apple Senior Vice President Rob Schoeben had been in charge of the MobileMe launch. He reports to Apple's Senior Vice President for Applications Sina Tamaddon.

In the memo, sent late Monday, Jobs infers MobileMe's troubled start is because Apple took on too much at once. Around the time the $99-a-year service debuted, Apple also began selling its new iPhone 3G and new iPhone software.

"It was a mistake to launch MobileMe at the same time," Jobs said in the memo. "We all had more than enough to do, and MobileMe could have been delayed without consequence."

Cue, a 15-year Apple veteran, will continue to oversee Apple's iTunes online store and its App Store, which distributes software for Apple's iPhone cell phone/digital media player. His new title is vice president, Internet services. Cue reports directly to Jobs.

"MobileMe" is the new name for Apple's $99-a-year Web-based feature for sending emails, contacts and calendar events between an array of Apple devices. It was overhauled so the iPhone could use the service, and re-launched around July 11.

But it was immediately beset by problems, including delays sending emails to the iPhone, and promised services like file-sharing through email not yet working.

Apple said a "serious issue" with one of company's mail servers was partly to blame. The company also said it has found more than 70 bugs in the MobileMe system.

Delta to Offer Wi-Fi on U.S. Flights

ATLANTA (AP) — Delta Air Lines said Tuesday that it would offer broadband wireless Internet access on its entire domestic mainline fleet by next summer. Continental Airlines had previously announced plans to offer similar service across a majority of its mainline fleet.
Several other airlines either offer or plan to offer a similar service, though on a much more limited number of flights than Delta and Continental.
Delta, which is based in Atlanta, said it would sell Wi-Fi service to customers traveling throughout the continental United States. The carrier is working with Aircell, an airborne communications provider, to install the network on Delta’s domestic fleet of more than 330 aircraft.
Fliers with Wi-Fi-enabled devices like laptops, smartphones and personal digital assistants will be able to access the Internet while in flight.
The service will cost $9.95 on flights of three hours or less, and $12.95 on longer flights.
Financial terms of Delta’s agreement with Aircell were not released. The airline did not say how much revenue it expected the service to generate. A Delta spokeswoman, Betsy Talton, said the airline was considering options for its international fleet and for aircraft used by its regional flying partners, but had no plans yet to offer Wi-Fi on those flights.
Continental, based in Houston, said on Jan. 29 that it would introduce onboard Wi-Fi services including e-mail and instant messaging connectivity on flights operating within the continental United States at the beginning of next year.
American Airlines, a unit of the AMR Corporation, will offer the same Wi-Fi service as Delta through Aircell later this year on 15 of its 767-200 aircraft, which generally fly transcontinental routes, a spokeswoman, September Wade, said.
JetBlue Airways offers free Wi-Fi service on one aircraft that generally flies transcontinental routes, a spokesman, Sebastian White, said. The US Airways Group plans to offer Wi-Fi service on a trial basis on one Airbus aircraft in the fall, a spokeswoman, Michelle Mohr, said.
