ASUS Achieves ASIA Windows Server 2008 x64 & x86 Certification

Taipei, Taiwan -- ASUS wins the first ASIA Windows Server 2008 x64 and x86 logo'd server system certification with its TS500-E4/PA4 server and DSBV-D serverboard in early March - ahead of all other manufacturers. Windows Server 2008, which was launched on the 27th of February this year, operates on x86 (32 bit) and x64 (64bit) hardware, and contains many improvements such as virtualization, server core installation options and management system installation.

Before being available to the market, Microsoft R&D engineers have cooperated with main partner ASUS in terms of system compatibility tests. The ASUS DSBV-D server board and TS500-E4/PA4 server are the first server hardware to be certified, and with the WHQL Certification, the DSBV-D and TS500-E4/PA4 are able to enable full use of brand new functions that include the Intel Virtualization Technology (IVT).

DSBV-D Serverboard
The ASUS DSBV-D serverboard supports two Quad-Core/Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5000 series processors and the Intel 5000V chipset – enabling it to be ready for the broadest range of 64-bit applications; and the Intel VT and I/OAT technologies for the high-end server market. With 6 Fully-Buffered DIMM slots, the DSBV-D can support dual channel DDR2 533 /667 Fully-Buffered DIMM up to 16GB (B3 Stepping) or 24GB (G1 Stepping) in memory space – significantly improving the serverboard’s computing capabilities.

TS500-E4/PA4 Server
The TS500-E4/PA4 is based on the Dual-Core Intel Xeon processor 5100/5200 sequence / Quad-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5300/5400 Sequence platform. With support for EM64T technology, 64-bit OS, Intel VT and I/OAT technologies, and 6 Fully-Buffered DIMM slots, the TS500-E4/PA4 is able to deliver powerful functions to suit customer needs.

In order to provide customers with the latest technology and products, ASUS will continue to work closely with Microsoft (R&D) for leading-edge hardware support.
