Reminder - New Nintendo Releases on 6/22

Nintendo Wii owners, here is your reminder that this coming Sunday, 6/22, will see the release of Rock Band.  As has been noted before, the Wii version is a basic port of the previously released PS2 offering, with the addition of 5 of the DLC tracks currently available to 360 & PS3 owners.

While this version may be pretty bare bones compared to the more robust 360/PS3 versions, if the Wii is the only console you own, it’s still a worthy purchase for solo/local multiplayer fun.  And remember that there will be future “track pack” expansion discs with all new tracks available starting this July!  If nothing else, almost everything on the Wii sells like crack, so better to get to the stores early Sunday morning (if not overnight Saturday) to ensure you get your copy.

And while you’re there, don’t forget that Guitar Hero: On Tour for the Nintendo DS will also be available starting this Sunday, including both the stand alone game, for current DS owners, and the bundle pack including both the game and the exclusive silver/gray Guitar Hero themed DS system for those who will be jumping into the DS world for the first time.

We’ll do our best to have reviews up as soon as possible, though admittedly, we will need some help with Rock Band on the Wii, so please offer comments if you’ve played it!  (I think most of us have it on the 360 already)  And we could always use some friendly donations toward getting our copies of GH: On Tour sooner.  [Author's note - Sorry guys, as much as I was saving cash to get it on release day, Metal Gear Solid 4 changed that real quick!]

On top of all that, don’t forget that we’re less than 2 weeks away from the release of Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, which I’m sure we’ll have a review of PDQ.  Whatever happened to the summer game drought?
