Asustek’s All-In-One Touch-Screen Eee Personal Computer Available for Pre-Order.

Certain partners of Asustek Computer have started to take pre-orders
on Asus Eee all-in-one desktop featuring touch-screen, which was
discussed long ago, but which will only emerge on the market in the
second half of November, 2008.

Asus Eee all-in-one desktop (model
ETP1602-WT-X0010) is based on Intel Atom processor N270 (1.60GHz) and
Intel 945 GSE core-logic with built-in graphics core. The novelty
sports 1GB of DDR2 memory, 160GB hard disk drive, Gigabit Ethernet
controller, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n controller, built-in audio, 1.3MP webcam
and so on. The system is equipped with 15.6” touch-sensitive screen
with 16:10 aspect ratio. Even though the Asus Eee all-in-one desktop
has touch-sensitive screen, it still comes bundled with keyboard and
mouse.

Yet another member of the Eee family is powered by
Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition and also comes pre-loaded with
StarOffice, Adobe Reader 8.0, Norton Internet Security (90 day trial
version), Express Gate, Skype, Eee Memo, SoftStyles, Eee Cam & Eee
Cinema software.

Asustek’s
new incarnation of Eee will compete against all-in-one desktops, such
as Apple iMac, Dell XPS One or Gateway One. Although the novelty is
much less expensive compared to its rivals, its performance is
dramatically lower since systems from other makers utilize much more
powerful Intel Core 2 Duo microprocessors. As a result, the success of
Asus Eee all-in-one desktop depends whether end-users will be satisfied
with low-performance Intel Atom processors or not.

The UK-based Play online store offers its customers to pre-order the Asus Eee all-in-one desktop (model ETP1602-WT-X0010) for £399 ($694, €510). The store promises to start deliveries on the 20th November, 2008.
