Nintendo Pumps 200,000 DSi into Japanese Launch

Nintendo has confirmed that near enough 200,000 DSi consoles shipped to retailers for the Japanese launch.

The console swept Japan last weekend on November 1st 2008, and it looks like Nintendo has satisfied demand from a nation that's keen to pounce on the latest hardware offerings.

Although initial sales figures are not known, reports suggest that it's been a near-enough sellout with the traditional long lines and some retailers not being able to stock units on shelves due to pre-orders selling out. And fast.

A further 100,000 black and white DSis will be making their way into stores this week - good news for those who weren't able to pre-order, or wanting to import.

An exit to the west is expected before or around summer 2009 for Europe and the US.
