SINGAPORE - Sony Ericsson Singapore has ousted incumbent public
relations agency Camber Communications in a move to consolidate its
regional business under Hill & Knowlton Southeast Asia.
According to Camber Communications director Kevin Foo, Sony Ericsson
selected Hill & Knowlton without holding an account pitch.
Camber Communications had managed Sony Ericsson Singapore from March 2007 to September this year.
Foo said the switch to Hill & Knowlton is “understandable in light
of the global alignment” because Hill & Knowlton Southeast Asia has
held Sony Ericsson’s business in Asia Pacific and Australia since 2007.
“There wasn‚t really a pitch - it was really more of a consolidation.
Hill & Knowlton was already awarded the Asia Pacific account, and
this allows Sony Ericsson to align globally with one agency under a
single umbrella,” Foo said. “Agency shifts and these kind of things
happen for a reason - maybe it has something to do with resources or
budgets - but it’s part of everyday business.”
