Simple Comic 1.6.1

I’m a fan of Bitcartel’s ComicBookLover (), which
provides an iTunes library-style approach to your digital comics collection. But
sometimes all you want to do is read a comic book. And that's the beauty of
Simple Comic
, which does pretty much what the name says: gives you a fast, simple
interface for reading comic books saved in PDF, CBR, and CBZ formats.

SimpleComic

SimpleComic.

Even better, it comes with a Quick Look plug-in, so Leopard users can get
quick access to comics right from the Finder. Now if only the major comic
companies would get with the program and offer more comics in downloadable
form.

MacRaider, Kerrie Reay Passes Away

Many a Macintosh owner playing a game from the Tomb Raider series has
found themselves stuck at one particular place or another in the games. Their
next step was probably to head over to the MacRaider website, an
impressive repository of detailed walk-throughs, tips and tricks, and other
resources for Macintosh Tomb Raider players. The site's founder and proprietor,
Kerrie Reay, saved many a frustrated player, and probably a few mice and
controllers in the process.

Unfortunately, Inside Mac Games has received word that Kerrie Reay has passed
away. Her daugher, Ceinwen Price, forwarded this note:

Unfortunately, Kerrie has passed away. She had been sick for a few
weeks with a couple of viral infections, and it seems that there may have been
more to her illness than she realised. The coroner thinks that she had a heart
attack and died very quickly and peacefully.

[...]I am not sure what will become of MacRaider the website[...]

Kind Regards,
Ceinwen Price

We here at Inside Mac Games
extend our deepest condolences to Ceinwen and the rest of Kerrie's family and
friends.

Hackers target Apple’s iPhone and iMac

Security specialists say Apple’s iPhone and Macintosh ranges are being
increasingly targeted by hackers as their popularity explodes.

Hackers have traditionally focused on computers using Windows systems because
of the huge market share commanded by Microsoft products.

But the underground hacker convention DefCon gathering of hackers in Las
Vegas heard that the growing popularity of hot gadgets such as the iPhone and
the iMac have made hackers more interested in messing with Apple goods.

Security analyst Cameron Hotchkies, from the Zero Day Initiative, told
news.com.au that he has recently seen a spike in the number of hackers “reverse
engineering” Apple products to find flaws.

It took about a month for someone to hack a first-generation iPhone after its
release, but an iPhone 3G was cracked within hours of its release on 11
July.

"It shows people are getting proficient at analysing Apple software,"
Hotchkies told news.com.au.

RPT-UPDATE 1-Sony launches new PSP in Japan to battle Nintendo

TOKYO, Sept 2 (Reuters) - Sony Corp's (6758.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) game unit
said on Tuesday it would launch the latest model of its PlayStation Portable
(PSP) handheld machine on Oct. 16 in Japan to better compete with Nintendo Co
Ltd's (7974.OS: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz)
market-leading DS.

The new model, first unveiled in Leipzig in August, comes with a built-in
microphone and advanced LCD display that is better suited for use
outdoors.

It will sell for 19,800 yen ($182), the same price as the current PSP model
and compared with 16,800 yen for the DS.

Sony sold 3.72 million units of the PSP in April-June worldwide, while
Nintendo's DS sold 6.94 million units.

The PSP, however, has outsold the DS in recent months in Japan, helped by
Capcom Co Ltd's (9697.T: Quote, Profile, Research, Stock Buzz) popular
hunting action game "Monster Hunter Freedom 2G", designed for the Sony machine.
